Food and More Service

Helping Feed the Community

We are a foodbank supporting individuals and families across North Kirklees with food and other essential items, but this is only a small part of what we do. We also offer one-to-one advice, guidance and support to identify and address the root cause of food poverty. We help build life skills, financial inclusion and resilience to reduce dependence on emergency food provision.

We do this by:

  • Income maximisation for clients with no existing support
  • Access to grants
  • Improving digital inclusion
  • Access to short courses, including cooking, budgeting and employability skills
  • Support to address debts
  • Support to access volunteering opportunities
  • Signposting
  • Access to housing advice

To speak to our Diversion team for advice, guidance and support, call 01924454770 or email Diversion@fusionhousing.org.uk.

How To Get Help

Get A Referral
We need a referral to be able to help you, this can be from a support worker or support professional. There are a few simple ways to do this.

If you already receive support from a service or professional, you can ask them to make a referral for you. This could be your GP, social worker, community psychiatric nurse or an agency such as housing services, Substance misuse service or probation.

You can telephone Kirklees Local Welfare Provision Team (LWP) on 01484 414782 Monday – Friday between 10am – 3pm. If you don’t have a phone to call LWP, there’s a free phone at the Customer Services reception at Dewsbury, Heckmondwike, Batley, Cleckheaton, Birstall and Ravensthorpe libraries.

You can also visit Fusion Hub at Floor 2, Empire House, Dewsbury old road, Dewsbury and speak to our Diversion team 10am to 3pm every weekday.

What We Will Need To Know
To receive a pack we’ll need to ask your referrer some questions about why you need our support. Being open and providing us with the all information we need makes the process quicker.

We’ll ask about your dietary needs, how many people are in your family and what cooking facilities you have. If you have allergies or don’t like something please let us know so we can make sure your pack meets your needs.

How To Collect Your Pack
You can collect your food pack from Our office on Floor 2, Empire House, Wakefield Old Road, Dewsbury the next working day after your referral has been made. Packs will be available Monday to Friday between 11 am and 3 pm.

In some circumstances, we can offer home delivery. If you are eligible your pack will be delivered to your home or delivery address the next working day. Referrals taken on a Friday will be delivered on a Monday. Please speak to your referral agency about this.

If you no longer need you pack once the referral has been made please let us know by contacting 01924 454770

What Help We Can Provide

We are able to provide toiletry packs for all ages, including sanitary and nappies items alongside our food parcels to ensure everyone has the opportunity to maintain good levels of hygiene.

Cleaning Packs

We can provide washing powder/liquid, washing up liquid, sponges and clothes to enable clients to wash their clothes and dishes and maintain their cleanliness
